Un exceso de calor permanece concentrado en una fina capa en la superficie del sensor, donde genera un repentino sobrecalentamiento del material absorbente. Por encima de un determinado nivel, este exceso de energ\u00eda puede causar da\u00f1os; a menudo causar\u00e1 la ablaci\u00f3n del absorbente. Para superar ese tipo de situaciones, se utiliza tecnolog\u00eda de absorci\u00f3n de volumen. Absorci\u00f3n de volumen es donde se produce una absorci\u00f3n gradual de radiaci\u00f3n a medida que penetra en el material. La absorci\u00f3n total se obtiene en profundidades que, yendo m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de unas micras, alcanzan los 0,5-2 mm: la consecuencia es una distribuci\u00f3n m\u00e1s lenta de la energ\u00eda y un aumento de la temperatura local mucho menor. Laser Point utiliza varios tipos de vidrios y cer\u00e1micas para cubrir el rango UV-C (190-250 nm), el UV-A (250-400 nm) y el VIS-NIR (absorbente BB de 400 nm a 5 \u03bcm).
